Biovet at GASL MSP Meeting 2023 in Beijing
On the 16th and 17th of October 2023, Beijing Chengzhi Zhonghe, Biovet distributor in China, participated together with our representative in the Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The annual meeting represents a significant hub to address the challenges of the growing demand for livestock products, which is projected to grow by 70 percent by 2050.
Biovet’s representative in China, Mr. Liang Lei, accompanied Beijing Chengzhi Zhonghe during the event, offering commercial and technical support.
Food security and human and animal health formed a central part of the event, during which the distributor’s representative gave a lecture on the “Effects of Natural Plant Extracts on Intestinal Health of Poultry”, highlighting the remarkable results of the natural antimicrobial Alquermold Natural, developed by Biovet S.A.
Alquermold Natural: a key tool for food security
The lecture was part of the “Food and Nutrition Security” section, which was dedicated to exploring how to achieve sustainable development in the Chinese livestock industry to provide safe and healthy food to the growing population while protecting and restoring the ecosystem.
At Biovet, we have been working for many years on supporting food supply chain security and sustainability while ensuring the quality of feed destined for animal consumption. Furthermore, we aim to reduce the globally growing antibiotic resistance in animals and humans with our natural products. Alquermold Natural, which was presented during the GASL MSP Meeting 2023, is a remarkable example of our natural alternatives that can replace different chemicals and has an important role to play in food safety.
Alquermold Natural works as a feed and raw material preservative and prevents outbreaks of digestive diseases caused by pathogenic micro-organisms without affecting beneficial microflora, such as Lactobacillus. Various results show that the product can improve the productive parameters and reduce the mortality rate on farms while reducing the incidence of lesions usually caused by various bacteria, such as Clostridium perfringens in the intestine. With its usage, more tons of meat and eggs can be produced, while feed consumption and alteration are reduced significantly.
In addition, by reducing the burden of intestinal pathogens, the elimination of micro-organisms potentially pathogenic to humans is promoted, and the likelihood of cross-infection is reduced, which has a positive impact on food safety.
It is important to highlight that the products of Biovet do not leave residues, do not generate microbial resistance, nor require a withdrawal period.
