Technical-commercial visits in Bangladesh
In September 2023, a veterinary technical team of Biovet S. A. made a technical-commercial visit to Bangladesh. During the trip, our staff met with the country’s distributor, Doctor’s Agrovet, and its main customers in the poultry sector. We also took the opportunity to visit farms, detect the main problems affecting poultry and give technical advice on-site.
Controlling ammonia levels
As Bangladesh experiences high temperature and humidity, one of the most serious problems on the farms is the high level of ammonia concentration. Ammonia (NH3) is a colourless gas with a characteristic pungent odour, produced by microbial decomposition of nitrogen compounds, which in high environmental concentrations can be dangerous for the poultry industry. It often causes respiratory problems, secondary infections, and a decrease in production parameters. Due to high levels of ammonia various diseases can develop in poultry, such as Newcastle disease, airsacculitis to varying degrees, ascites due to impaired respiratory capacity, and even skin and eye lesions.
For this reason, during the meetings, the most highlighted products were the natural solutions for the control of this compound.
Participants showed great interest in Alquernat Yucca, a natural additive developed by Biovet, which, thanks to the synergy of its active ingredients, achieves ammonia reductions of up to 80% and improves the farm environment, animal welfare, and production parameters.
Control of necrotic enteritis and prevention of mycotoxicosis
In the case of diseases that negatively affect weight and feed conversion rate, one of the products that generated the most interest was Alquermold Natural. It is an effective solution for feed preservation and for the control of necrotic enteritis in broiler farms. Necrotic enteritis is one of the most prevalent diseases in poultry production worldwide and has a significant economic impact. Mortality can exceed 30% during the onset of outbreaks, and production parameters are significantly affected, mainly weight and feed conversion ratio with deteriorations of 8% and 10%, respectively.
However, Alquermold Natural not only controls necrotic enteritis but also allows proper preservation of the feed, and can be combined with Alquerfeed Antitox, a mycotoxin binder, to ensure a higher quality feed, by guaranteeing with the use of both, the prevention of the presence of microorganisms and mycotoxins.
Alquerfeed Antitox, composed of the patented Silicoglycidol molecule, can protect the birds against all mycotoxins present in the feed, being effective in all digestive pH at a low dose without capturing nutrients such as vitamins and amino acids.
Biovet, S.A. has developed a dual strategy consisting of the two products for a comprehensive approach against mycotoxins.
Both products are based on a unique patented technology that allows, on the one hand, to eliminate bacteria and mycotoxin-producing fungi from cereals and compound feeds and, on the other hand, to prevent the toxic effects of mycotoxins remaining in the feed.
Our technical-veterinary team emphasised that all Biovet products are natural solutions which leave no residues in the animals and are excellent alternatives to antibiotics, thus playing a key role in animal welfare and the current challenges of the poultry industry.
