In addition, representatives of Biovet S.A. attended the booth of the north American distributor to meet those interested. Prevention of digestive diseases in poultry farming

The prevention of the digestive diseases in poultry was one of the central topics in the inquiries of the producers. Microbiological contamination is key issue in poultry industry, especially in products of animal origin, as they pose a risk for public health.

E.coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter and Clostridium are the main microorganism usually located in the digestive tract of the birds. That is why it is extremely important to reduce the pathogenic load in the digestive system in stages prior to slaughter to reduce the risk of contamination in slaughter plants.

Alquermold Natural, natural preservative with microbicide effect, is a product fully developed by R&D team of Biovet S.A. Its use allows to reduce the presence of microorganism in farms and, therefore, the risk of cross-contamination.

The product contains cimenol ring and citric acid and the efficacy of these molecules have been extensively studied by applying the scientific method in field and in laboratories against the main contaminating microorganisms of meat and eggs with positive results.

Alquerfeed Diatom to regulate intestinal transit in poultry farming

Furthermore, Biovet S.A. and IFTA USA team also presented the new product launched by Biovet, Alquerfeed Diatom. This product has an effect on the intestinal transit of animals, since it slows it down to increase the retention time of the feed in the digestive tract. In this way, contact with the digestive enzymes and the intestinal microvilli responsible for the absorption of nutrients is increased. This generates a positive effect on growth rate, feed efficiency and animal welfare.

The trials carried out with Alquerfeed Diatom showed that its use improves economic performance on farms with higher meat production and lower feed costs, thanks to efficient intestinal absorption.

Natural solutions to prevent necrotic enteritis and coccidiosis

In addition of the products aftermentioned, Dr. David Diez, veterinarian at Biovet S.A., presented a Conference at the International Poultry Scientific Forum (IPSF) entitled ‘Natural prevention of coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis in broilers’.
