Conference at IPPE 2019: Alquermold Natural for treatment and prevention of necrotic enteritis in broilers

Dr. Júlia Pié, in representation of Biovet S.A. at IPPE 2019, will give a lecture on the use of the natural preservative, Alquermold Natural, in the prevention and treatment of Clostridium perfringens-caused necrotic enteritis in experimentally infected broilers.

The conference – scheduled on Tuesday the 12th of February at 8:45 am in room B313 of the exhibition ground – will explain the characteristics and applications of the natural preservative. Such event will be part of the International Poultry Scientific Forum (IPSF), which will run in parallel of the international exhibition.

The bactericide properties of this natural preservative, both premix powder and oral solution, will be demonstrated through an experiment carried out in a Peruvian experimental poultry farm by the Universidad Científica del Sur of Lima (UCSUR).

Experiment results

The test with Alquermold Natural shows that it prevents the negative consequences of a CP infection when added into animal feed. Moreover, the same product administered in drinking water right after the experimental infection alleviates the worsening effects caused by the mentioned pathogen, in terms of productive parameters.

Such observations – obtained through the analysis of the productive outcome –are corroborated by the study of lesions and CP count in the digestive system of sample broilers.

Palliative effects of cimenol ring and citric acid

Parallel to specific results, Dr. Pié will give more details on general behavior of this natural preservative when applied in raw materials and feed, as well as the functioning and source of its active ingredients: cimenol ring and citric acid.

As an intestinal biocide, Alquermold Natural is also a suitable product for the prevention and treatment in the proliferation of other pathogens similar to CP, such as Salmonella, E. coli and Staphylococcus, among others.
