Alquerfeed Diatom presented at IPPE 2023

Biovet S.A. will present its newest products at IPPE 2023Biovet S.A. and IFTA USA Inc. will participate, one more year, in the most important international fair in the poultry sector, IPPE (International Production & Processing Expo), which will take place this year between January 24 and 26, 2023 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, USA.

In addition to the participation with a booth, on January 24, at 08:15 a.m. at conference room B314, Dr. Felipe Mendy will give a talk on the “Effect of activated diatoms on the regulation of intestinal passage rate, digestibility, and performance in broiler chicken”. The talk will be presented during the International Poultry Scientific Forum (IPSF), where information on environmental management, nutrition, physiology, pathology, processing and products, and avian diseases will also be presented.

Alquerfeed Diatom to regulate intestinal transit in broilers

Intestinal rapid transit is a frequent problem on farms, which gives rise to the presence of partially undigested feed in feces and liquid droppings. It causes the feed not to remain long enough in the intestine for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. As a consequence, the productive parameters and the health of the animals are getting worse. Indirectly, they worsen litter quality, a predisposing factor for various diseases.

Activated diatoms have the ability to reduce the speed of intestinal transit, preventing the problems derived from this situation and, at the same time, improving the use of nutrients, the consistency of the feces and the productive parameters.

In a trial carried out at the experimental farm of the Universidad Científica del Sur, it was shown that, with the use of activated diatoms, it was possible to slow down intestinal transit, increasing the permanence time of the food by 16 minutes. This made it possible to avoid rapid transit and improve the digestibility of the different components of the diet.

The improvement in productive performance was 92 g more per bird with a 4% better feed conversion rate. There were also improvements in product quality expressed in better uniformity (+4%) and breast percentage (+7%).

Based on the results obtained, for every million birds with activated diatoms, 92 more tons of meat would be obtained and 224 tons of feed would be saved.

Activated diatoms are present in the Alquerfeed Diatom product, developed and marketed by Biovet S.A.

During the event, the veterinary technical team will also present other solutions of interest to poultry producers and will answer the technical questions of attendees from all over the world.

We are waiting for you at Hall B, Booth B8321, to provide you more information about Alquerfeed Diatom and other products that may be of your interest.
