Biovet presents a poster in the 6th edition of the International Conference on Poultry Intestinal Health

Between April 3th and 5th, the Auditorium Del Massimo in Rome hosted the 6th edition of the International Conference on Poultry Intestinal Health, organized by the Intestinal Health Scientific Interest Group (IHSIG). The conference included a poster session in which Núria Alcober, representing Biovet SA, participated with a poster entitled “Use of botanical molecules (Pronutrients and Cimenol Ring) to improve intestinal physiology in broilers “.

The conference mainly revolved around topics relevant to poultry producers and researchers such as the diagnosis and pathogenesis of intestinal and parasitical diseases. Food-borne pathogens, as well as nutrition and immunity issues were also discussed, with special emphasis to innovative ingredients for animal feed and additives for optimal animal health control.

Pronutrients and cimenol ring for optimal intestinal health

Biovet’s poster proposal is directly related to additives for better animal health and nutrition, one of the main topics discussed in the gathering.  The combination of an intestinal conditioner – pronutrients – together with a natural preservative based on cimenol ring and citric acid helps optimizing the animal intestinal physiology. The results obtained from a field trial in a Colombian poultry farm have shown remarkable improvements in the intestinal tract of the animal, as well as in general productive parameters. Moreover, such combination of additives can replace antibiotic growth promoters (AGP).

On the one hand, the bactericidal and fungicidal properties of the natural preservative with cimenol ring, considerably reduces the possibility of feed and raw material contamination. In turn, it also works as an intestinal biocide, preventing the proliferation of pernicious bacteria for optimal intestinal health, such as Salmonella, E. coli, Clostridium and Staphylococcus, among others.

On the other hand, the action of intestinal conditioning pronutrients complement the action of the preservative, thanks to its enterocyte regenerative effect and a nutrient-absorption improvement.
