Biovet S.A. presented two of the conferences at the International Scientific Poultry Forum (IPSF) held during the last edition of the International Production & Processing Expo 2019 (IPPE), between February 12th and 14th in Atlanta, USA. Both talks focused on the use of pronutrients in poultry production.
Use of intestinal conditioners: greater absorption of nutrients in laying hens
The first session was held on Monday the 11th by post-doctoral student Milan Kumar Sharma, from the Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University (MSU). In this first talk, the results of the application of the intestinal conditioner Alquernat Nebsui were revealed through an in vivo study carried out with laying hens by the American university.
The study corroborated an improvement in the egg-laying rate, as well as a greater egg yoak coloration thanks to a better absorption of pigments present in the diet when using this product. The intestinal-conditioning pronutrients, present in Alquernat Nebsui, positively affect the intestinal health of the animal, improving the digestive mucosa and increasing intestinal villi width. Therefore, the increase of the nutrient-absorption surface allows an improvement in the general health of the animal and productivity rates.
Necrotic enteritis in broilers: treatment and prevention using natural preservatives
The second session, held on Tuesday the 12th and conducted by Dr. Júlia Pié, highlighted the functioning and applications of the natural preservative Alquermold Natural, according to a study carried out in an experimental broiler farm by the Universidad Científica del Sur (UCSUR) of Lima, Peru.
The study tested the prevention and treatment of Clostridium perfringens (CP), the etiological agent of necrotic enteritis, thanks to the bactericidal properties of this natural preservative. Added to the food, Alquermold Natural helps preventing the appearance of CP. In case of an existing infection, when applied in drinking water, this natural preservative helps alleviating the symptoms of this pathology in birds, thus avoiding losses in terms of productivity.
Cimenol ring and citric acid
The active ingredients of Alquermold Natural are cimenol ring and citric acid. Added to feed and raw materials, this natural preservative prevents the proliferation of pathogens similar to CP, such as Staphylococcus, E. coli, Pseudomonas or Salmonella, among others.
About Biovet at IPPE 2019
As usual in past editions of this annual gathering about the poultry sector, Biovet had its own stand located in Pavilion A of the Georgia World Congress Center, in Atlanta. A team composed of veterinarians attended visitors and distributors’ information requests regarding Biovet’s veterinary products. For the most part, such requests were interested in knowing more in depth Biovet’s poultry product range, its characteristics as well as its benefits on animal health and productivity.
