The Italian Branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association will organize the 23rd European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition – ESPN 2023 from June 21 – 24, 2023, at the Palacongressi di Rimini, Italy.

The congress is one of the most significant forums for poultry nutrition issues in Europe which provides a unique opportunity to present scientific and technical achievements in the industry.

Cimenol ring: natural antimicrobial to avoid losses due to dirty eggs

Biovet S.A. will participate in the Symposium with a poster titled “Evaluation of the effect of a natural antimicrobial in feed for laying hens on the productive performance and egg quality”.

The R&D department of Biovet S.A. has conducted pioneering research into natural antimicrobials and, years ago, launched the cimenol ring, a natural compound which has a specific antimicrobial effect against pathogens while not affecting the beneficial flora. This way, it prevents the infections caused by enterobacteria that alter the consistency of the stool, eliminates microorganisms such as E. coli, Salmonella and Clostridium, and promotes the balance of the intestinal microbiota, preventing food-borne zoonoses and improving laying parameters.

Furthermore, our research shows that the effect of the cimenol ring can be enhanced by combining it with citric acid, producing a significant synergism. The combined action of these two active compounds has been patented by Biovet S.A. and marketed under the name of Alquermold Natural.

Alquermold Natural and other products of the Ovum line by Biovet S.A. improve the production and quality of the eggs while reducing the negative effects caused by heat stress, intestinal dysbiosis or mineral deficiencies.
