“Alquernat Nebsui as an alternative to AGP in broilers”, conference at the 2018 PSA Annual Meeting
“Use of Alquernat Nebsui as an alternative to an AGP (Growth Promoter Antibiotic) in broilers” is the title of the lecture given by the head of the technical team of Biovet S.A., Dr. Julia Pié, at the 2018 PSA Annual Meeting. It is an event organized by the Poultry Science Association (PSA), which took place from July 23rd to 26th in San Antonio, Texas (USA).
Specifically, during the conference held on July 25th, the results of a study carried out in 2017 at the Universidad Científica del Sur, Lima (Peru) on the application of Alquernat Nebsui (product made with natural extracts -pronutrients- that stimulate the gut physiology of animals) to replace an AGP in broilers, through the analysis of growth performance and intestinal relative weight, as an indicator of intestinal efficiency.
In the study, which lasted 42 days, a total of 300 broilers of 1 day participated. They were subjected to a basal diet, divided into 3 groups. The study was directed by the rector of the Universidad Científica del Sur, Dr. Manuel Rosemberg.
As Dr. Pié explained, “the conclusions of this in vivo study highlight that both, the chickens that ingested Alquernat Nebsui and the Antibiotic Growth Promoter, improved the Final Weight. Likewise, Alquernat Nebsui improved the Feed Conversion Rate by 3.11% (compared to the control group), while the antibiotic improved it by 1.86% (compared to the control group).
On the other hand, both the batch consumed by Alquernat Nebsui and the AGP improved the Efficiency Index. Finally, Alquernat Nebsui achieved “a lower Relative Intestinal Weight, which is an indication of a higher organ’s efficiency”, concluded the veterinarian.

Biovet S.A. also presented a scientific poster at the 2018 PSA Annual Meeting, about a trial about “Use of Alquernat Nebsui in layers”. The results of this study conducted in 2018 at the Mississippi State University (EE.UU), which evaluated the productive indices and the quality of the egg, were showed: an improvement in intestinal absorption, due to the addition of Alquernat Nebsui in the drinking water.
