Use of Alquermold Natural to prevent necrotic enteritis, conference at AAAP 2020

Biovet S.A. will participate in the annual meeting of the American Association of Avian Pathologist (AAAP) 2020 to be held online July 30 – August 6. On this occasion, Dr. David Diez, veterinarian of Biovet S.A., will present a trial about the use of the natural antimicrobial, Alquermold Natural, for the prevention of necrotic enteritis in broilers.
Specifically, the trial compared the results obtained in a control batch and a batch treated with Alquermold Natural, used as a preventative, and where the birds were infected with Clostirdium perfringens, etiologic agent of necrotic enteritis.
Differences in the results were observed, both in productive parameters and in the lesions detected in the intestine:
On one hand, an improvement of the productive parameters was observed in the batch treated with Alquermold Natural, especially the conversion rate, which improved by 3,93%, and the efficiency index with 84,2 more points. Lower mortality rate was also observed with Alquermold Natural.
On the other hand, Alquermold Natural prevented the presence of lesions in the intestine, usually caused by Clostridium perfringens, since they were less severe in the batch treated with Alquermold Natural.
With the results of this test it can be concluded that the Alquermold Natural is an effective alternative for the prevention of necrotic enteritis. It is a natural product manufactured by Biovet S.A. available in premix powder and oral solution. It acts as an intestinal biocide to promote the balance of the intestinal flora to prevent the growth of Salmonella, E. coli, Clostridium and Staphylococcus.
