Three Essential Requirements for The Poultry Industry: Highlights from the Lecture at RACVE

In addition to the topics exclusively related to advances in poultry pathology, Dr Jaime Borrell discussed multiple aspects of the poultry industry during his lecture at the Royal Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Spain:

(1) Particular planning is required for the growth of the poultry industry, either on a national level or among countries sharing a common cultural character.

This is being accomplished with private companies, which are expanding state by state and are encouraged by this cultural identification. This calls for the integration of governmental institutions, which through:

1.1 Unified legislation.

1.2 Promotion of basic cereal crops adapted to the area and study of suitable enzymes for their digestion and reduction of residues.

1.3 Other measures to avoid barriers to extension to companies.

(2) Collaboration between research and training centres at universities is necessary to foster specialization in poultry farming, as understanding the characteristics of the species that provide most of the world’s food is essential to our civilization.

(3) Encourage the development of a network of private poultry diagnostic laboratories, including working protocols from necropsy examination to the evaluation of the pathogenicity of the strains isolated in the microbiology protocols.

The recorded version of the lecture is available in Spanish on the YouTube channel of RACVE.
