The proliferation of bacteria such as <em>E. coli<\/em>, <em>Clostridium spp.<\/em>, or <em>Salmonella<\/em>, as well as the presence of fungi producing mycotoxins, can negatively affect digestibility, feed conversion, and both the safety and nutritional value of the feed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conventional strategies have historically relied on organic acids or even antibiotics. However, these solutions have limitations: impact on beneficial microbiota, microbial resistance, corrosiveness, or regulatory restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"556\" height=\"260\" src=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/flora-patogena.jpg\" alt=\"natural compounds with selective antimicrobial activity against pathogens\" class=\"wp-image-62423\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A growing line of research focuses on natural compounds with selective antimicrobial activity against pathogens. These compounds act on the cell membrane, interfere with protein synthesis, and prevent biofilm formation without affecting the probiotic flora.
