The results demonstrated <strong>cimenol ring\u2019s efficacy against <em>Clostridium perfringens<\/em><\/strong> which makes it effective to control necrotic enteritis.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.veterinariadigital.com\/en\/post_blog\/avian-necrotic-enteritis-2\/\">Necrotic enteritis<\/a><\/strong> is an acute enterotoxemic caused by toxins secreted by <em>Clostridium perfringens<\/em>. It is one of the <strong>most prevalent diseases in poultry farms worldwide<\/strong> and it has a <strong>great economic impact<\/strong>. It causes mortality, that can exceed 30% during outbreaks. Productive parameters are markedly affected, mainly the weight and the feed conversion rate, which are worsened by around 8% and 10% respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, J\u00falia Pie, veterinarian of Biovet S.A., has presented a trial to evaluate <strong>the efficacy of Alquermold Natural to control necrotic enteritis<\/strong> administered before and after an experimental challenge with <em>C. perfringens<\/em>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/producto\/alquermold-natural\/\">Alquermold Natural<\/a> contains cimenol ring<\/strong> which is an active compound from plant extracts with strong <strong>bactericidal and fungicidal activities<\/strong> that works as a <strong>feed preservative<\/strong> and <strong>intestinal microbicide for farm animals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Effects of Alquermold Natural on production parameters<\/h3>\n<p>The trial was carried out in Madras Veterinary College, Chennai (India) with 480 broilers distributed into four treatment groups: non-infected control, infected control, infected birds with liquid Alquermold Natural in water for 7 days after infection, and infected birds with powder Alquermold Natural continuously in the feed.<\/p>\n<p>Broiler were experimentally infected with <em>Clostridium perfringens<\/em> on days 14, 15 and 16 of age. The groups with <strong>cimenol ring obtained significantly better weights<\/strong> than the others (+ 158,4 g\/bird in the feed; and +118,89 g\/bird in the water). Also, cumulative <strong>FCR at the end of the trial was significantly better<\/strong> in the groups with cimenol ring compared to uninfected and infected controls (cimenol in the water improved FCR by 11.1% and, in the feed, by 7%).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Efficiency index<\/strong> was 29.35 and 33.52 points <strong>better with cimenol ring<\/strong> in the water and in the feed, respectively. In addition, the supplementation of <strong>cimenol ring reduced mortality<\/strong> significantly (38.5% reduction when administered through drinking water and 69.2% reduction mixed in feed).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11789 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Virtual-Western-Poultry-Disease-conference-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Virtual Western Poultry Disease conference\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Natural product effective against necrotic enteritis<\/h3>\n<p>The results presented prove that <strong>Alquermold Natural is an effective solution to control necrotic enteritis in broiler farms<\/strong>, as it obtained a better productive parameters and lower mortality rates.<\/p>\n<p>Alquermold Natural, a cimenol ring-based product, is developed by Biovet S.A. and can be found in <strong>powder solution<\/strong> to be administered continuously in the feed, prior to any necrotic enteritis outbreak. It also helps to reduce intestinal lesions. In the water, the <strong>liquid cimenol ring<\/strong> can be used to control the disease after an outbreak, as it helps to restore the balance of the gut microflora.
