Turkey producers and companies related to the sector attended the congress held annually in this English city.<\/p>\n<p>This time, Dr. J\u00falia Pi\u00e9, veterinarian of Biovet S.A., gave a conference about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veterinariadigital.com\/en\/articulos\/principales-enfermedades-protozoarias-en-pavos\/\"><strong>protozoan diseases<\/strong><\/a> and how to <strong>prevent and treat them by using natural solutions<\/strong>. The most common problems that usually affect turkey production are <strong>coccidiosis<\/strong>, predisposing factor for necrotic enteritis; <strong>histomoniasis<\/strong> or black head disease, which can cause high mortality; and <strong>cochlosomiasis<\/strong>, of greater impact in United States but that causes significant productive losses and catarrhal enteritis in young birds.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Pronutrients as an alternative to prevent protozoan diseases<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To treat and prevent these diseases, a <strong>synergistic combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/en\/producto\/alquernat-coneb-p-y-l\/\">pronutrients<\/a><\/strong> based on improving the animal\u2019s resistance was presented. This combination is marketed under the name <strong>Alquernat Coneb<\/strong> and is composed of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intestinal conditioner pronutrients:<\/strong> they improve the regeneration of the digestive mucosa, which has a positive effect on the digestion and absorption of feed. In addition, a better state of the mucosa increases the resistance of cells to infections.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intestinal optimizer pronutrients:<\/strong> they promote the physiological activity of the intestine immune system, so the animal\u2019s defenses are ready to eliminate any protozoa that enters into the digestive system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The efficacy of pronutrients was demonstrate with a trial where turkeys were experimentally infected with <em>Cochlosoma<\/em>. Alquernat Coneb was administered in premix in feed as a prevention, and in drinking water for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>A count of <em>Cochlosoma<\/em> excreted in feces was performed 7 and 14 days post-infection. Results shown that, after 7 days of treatment, <em>Cochlosoma<\/em> was reduced almost by 80%. The prevention obtained a 13% reduction in the excretion 7 days post-infection and more than 50% reduction on the 14 day post-infection.<\/p>\n<p>With the results of this test it is demonstrated that Alquernat Coneb is a <strong>suitable product to prevent infestations and improve animal physiology.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once more, Biovet S.A. has participated in the 14th edition of Turkey Science and Production Conference held from March 4-6 in Carden Park, Cheshire (UK).
