{"id":56053,"date":"2018-09-04T10:29:21","date_gmt":"2018-09-04T08:29:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/efficacy-of-alquermold-natural-for-intestinal-health-in-a-necrotic-enteritis-model\/"},"modified":"2024-04-22T12:09:56","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T10:09:56","slug":"efficacy-of-alquermold-natural-for-intestinal-health-in-a-necrotic-enteritis-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/en\/2018\/09\/04\/efficacy-of-alquermold-natural-for-intestinal-health-in-a-necrotic-enteritis-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Compared efficacy of Alquermold Natural in a necrotic enteritis model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8547 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/TN-Alqruermold-natural.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The aim of this trial,\u00a0<strong>conducted in 2018 at Southern Poultry Research Group (SPGR) USA<\/strong>, was to examine the\u00a0<strong>effects a natural preservative (cimenol ring) fed continuously as a preventive treatment versus this natural preservative as a clinic treatment in drinking water<\/strong>\u00a0for seven days\u00a0<strong>during the peak of a necrotic enteritis (NE) challenge. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NE challenge was designed to reflect a commercial broiler farm situation with day of age coccidia vaccine and then\u00a0<em>Clostridium perfringens<\/em>\u00a0on days 14 to 16.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TRIAL DESIGN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8608 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Natural-preservative-trial-Design-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"633\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>*DOT: Days of trial<\/h6>\n<p><strong>RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At day 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of the trial, when birds were first challenged to\u00a0<em>Clostridium<\/em>, there was a marked difference in the Feed Conversion Rate (FCR) between groups non-treated previously and the group with preventive treatment with natural preservative, but there was still no difference in weight gain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8609 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/biovet-alquermes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Natural-preservative-results-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"552\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>* Different letters in chart mean statistical differences between data, in this case, no differences between groups are observed.<\/h6>\n<p>By the day 35<em>th<\/em>, weight gain was reduced in infected animals with no treatment (T2) or with clinic treatment (T4), while animals with preventive treatment (T3) showed similar numbers to the uninfected control (T1), even being challenged. Talking about the FCR, T3 showed the best results, while there was an increase in FCR in non-treated group (T2).
